"I found myself in love with yet another country's cuisine, and it's been a love affair ever since. You see, while some put on a quizzical face when Afghani food is mentioned, I now relish in finding it. You want a description of Afghani food ? Think varying attributes of Greek, Turkish, Middle Eastern, Persian, and then throw in some Asian and Indian influences for fun!
What's that, you say, an Afghani restaurant in El Dorado Hills ? Music to my ears. But not just any Afghani Restaurant, as this is one that comes with a superb pedigree. You see Bamiyan's Citrus Heights restaurant ( sister restaurant ) has for some time been considered one of the area' best "finds" by the multitudes who have searched it out and kept it on their short lists. Read online blogs and you will see passion-filled reviews of Bamiyan's food wondering if it's appropriate to score the restaurant with six stars insted of the standard five. The El Dorado Hills location is very nice with a quaint little bar area, outdoor patio with fountain and an elegant, but not stuffy, dinning room. The wine list looked great and they offer a nice selection of beers, and of course you should try an Afghani brew or two when you go.
"passionate" is probably a good way to describe the food you will find at Bamiyan.
Having now dined at several Afghani restaurants throughout the world, ( although I have never visited the country itself )
Remember the first time you tried sushi ? Or had a fish taco ? Well, I can tell you that given the chance, Afghani cuisine, and Bamiyan are likely to become one of those things that you never forget and will never want to...and fortunately for all of us, it's in the neighborhood!"

Afghan cuisine at Bamiyan Restaurant is a collection of authentic traditional recipes, a blend of tastes, which are exotic. Afghanistan is a land-locked country, and cooks rely on meats,
freshwater fish, vegetables, dried peas, beans, fresh fruits, yogurt, noodles, rice, and a distinctive palette of seasonings. Rice plays a very important part in Afghan cooking, and Afghans are very particular about the grain of rice they choose for different purposes. The best quality rice in Afghanistan is grown in the south of Afghanistan, in the province of Laghman. The Baghlan Brand rice is perhaps the finest quality rice available. At the Bamiyan Restaurant, we use the same cooking terms and techniques, that are used in Afghanistan. Afghans do not use butter or heavy cream in their cooking. Vegetable oil, corn oil or olive oil are used for cooking. In almost all the recipes in Afghan cooking, a small amount of herbs, spices and seasonings are used to flavor the dish and add a sensational taste, not too overwhelming. That makes the Afghan cooking very interesting and enjoyable for ereryone. The Afghan Cuisine at Bamiyan Restaurant is very satisfying and healthy for the entire family.
Bamiyan Afghan Restaurant is family own and oprated. When you are at Bamiyan you will be treated like a family.
